Piety does not require imagination. it's a simple task that can be followed by adhering to the commands of God. Not stepping out of line is difficult but it doesn't require a complex thought process. Sinning on the other hand requires cunning. It requires the sinner to step out his bounds and trespass against The Lord's orders. The sinner now explores a new boundary, a new domain of knowledge about himself. Yet he just has one more step to complete; Repentance.
Once a sinner repents, he's accepted by The Most Merciful and taken back. He's now more precious to the Lord's eyes. I'm not suggesting a sinner is a better man that a pious one. I'm emphasizing that the sinner has advanced spiritually and has more of his "self" to devote to God.
what use does a saint have if he's never faced the tribulations of his own weakness?
So be glad O' beings of soil and earth for when your path is strayed, redemption lies in finding it again. And what beauty lies in those steps back.
